Advisor and Board Member, Bala Vikasa
Ramana Gupta is an extremely accomplished financial professional with more than 30 years of experience in banking, finance, and corporate treasury. He is also co-founder of Wealth First Finserv, an independent investment advisory firm directed by senior-level partners. Mr. Gupta is a person who influences top-ranking finance professionals; whose opinion is highly sought after; and whose judgment is widely respected and trusted.
Mr. Gupta graduated in economics from Osmania University and qualified as a Financial Risk Manager from a banking institution. After graduation, he started his career as a banker with State Bank and worked across the country in various departments gaining insights in all aspects of banking. Known for his quick decision making and expertise in foreign exchange, he developed a passion for financial markets early in his career.
In 1995, he joined a leading corporate house to broaden his horizon. With the dawn of liberalization, the 1990s provided him with a huge scope for structuring innovative practices in risk management and capital expenditure. He went on to create several benchmarks in long term sustainability and low-cost financing.
Apart from this, he has also been proactive in social work as the inherent penchant of giving back to society is part of his personality. As a result, he became part of BVIC, where he is unleashing his passion through helping zealous social entrepreneurs. As a mentor, he is putting his best foot to bring up new aspects and angles to solve problems innovatively.
Shoury Reddy Singareddy
Executive Director, Bala Vikasa
Shoury Reddy, a charismatic leader, is an integral part of Bala Vikasa since its inception. He has been holding the reigns of the organization since 2009 and ensuring constant growth. His supervision, BalaVikasa spread across six Indian states in 6000 villages impacting the lives of over five million rural poor through innovative community empowerment initiatives.
Mr. Reddy did his post-graduation in Social Work from AcharyaNagarjuna University and a diploma in Community Development from St. F.X. University, Canada. While working closely with the grassroots communities, he designed some of the most effective community development models. These models have inspired several NGOs, development professionals, and central/state governments. He spearheaded projects such as tank desiltation, water purification, model villages, and Sujal ATWs.
To take sustainable development works to the next level, Mr. Reddy and BalaVikasa board spearheaded to establish India’s biggest incubation center for social entrepreneurs – BalaVikasa International Center (BVIC) – in Hyderabad.
Known for his work with grassroots communities, Mr. Reddy has a vast skill set ranging from networking with multi-level stakeholders to carrying out effective PR and capacity building. His dedication to social work has been successfully driving the organization’s mission and vision forward.
Rahul Bhardwaj is an accomplished strategy and management consultant with nearly 20 years of experience. Before starting his journey with BVIC, Mr. Rahul has worked with big corporate houses such as Deloitte, KPMG, and Aditya Birla Group, where he handled multi-million projects and assignments. These projects were spread through various business sectors and geographic locations including the UK, India, Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
He is an alumnus of Hansraj College, Delhi University, and London Business School, London. He is a member of the CSR Panel of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Telangana Chapter. After successfully working as a seasoned consultant in corporate strategy and management, Mr. Rahul is now holding the baton of BVIC.
Being an entrepreneur himself, his interest in promoting entrepreneurship doesn’t come as a surprise. In BVIC, he is supporting and nurturing Social Entrepreneurs through its flagship program – SOCENT Fellowship. He also advises and engages with corporate partners to support and implement their CSR programs.
Mr. Rahul’s areas of expertise include strategy and business development, investment advisory, team building, start-up financing and advisory, and social entrepreneurship. He is also an avid reader and cricket lover.
Vijay Kumar Machcha
Lead – Programs and Advisory
Vijay Kumar, on the surface, is an accomplished sustainability professional at BVIC, with over 12 years’ experience in Responsible Business and social entrepreneurship. He consistently ensures engaging with the Impact Oriented Social Projects and training programs to play his part in the development spectrum. He considers himself a ‘liaison officer’ who works on diverse development projects and program and ensures their stability and endurance. As such, he has spearheaded healthy, impactful, and enduring results for strategic programs, project, workshops, seminar, etc. Apart from a sustainability professional, Vijay is a person who influences and persuades people in a wider spectrum; whose suggestions and views are highly sought after and trusted.
Vijay received his Masters in Environmental Science from Osmania University and PGD in Energy Management from Hyderabad Central University. It was during his education he developed his passion for sustainable development, with a focus on climate change and responsible business practices. After Masters, he had extensively worked in consulting and auditing assignments for UNFCCC, EU, and WB projects through his previous stint with TUV NORD (Germany), SENES (Canada) and IT Power (UK) and Zenith Energy. He has been closely associated with multiple companies as an advisory in adopting sustainable and responsible business practices.
During his most recent three-year tenure with BVIC, Vijay has fed his insatiable interest in promoting social innovation/entrepreneurship and responsible business through programs such as InPRuWE and SocioConnect, along with BVIC’s flagship SOCENT.Vijay is perusing another Masters in Social Work as he believes that there is no end to learning. His core professional skill set is project management, financial analysis, business development, corporate sustainability, start-ups incubation, capacity building, and quite a few more. He is also a tech-savvy, DIY practitioner, fitness enthusiast with interest in active outdoor games, yoga, naturopathy, photography, and cosmology.
Satya Raj Pothuraju
Lead – Incubation
Satya Raj Pothuraju, on the surface, is an extremely accomplished incubation officer at BVIC with over 15 years’ experience in management and startup ecosystem. He constantly ensures the long-term scalability of social enterprises. He considers himself a “business and development mentor” who is ready to take essential efforts to make strengthen the survival of a promising social/impact startup. As such, he has produced healthy, enduring results for BVIC and its incubatee enterprises. Apart from this, Satya also possesses the capabilities of influencing and persuading people and professionals from various different sectors; and his judgment is well respected and trusted.
Satya received his first Masters in Business Management from JNTU-Hyderabad and second in Public Policy from ICFAI University-Hyderabad. During his professional journey at TechMahindra, he gained certifications in Six Sigma and Project Management Methodology, and trained in Instructional Design for Learning & Development. After his masters, he rose through the ranks as management professional and works in various corporates. He also has five years’ experience in consulting and freelance in research and writing for various social impact projects.
During his professional journey he developed passion for social/impact innovation and entrepreneurship and he started to provide research and advisory services to the Fin Tech StartUps of IIM-A’s CIIE. Satya has fed his insatiable interest in social innovation and entrepreneurship through participating in many national conferences and training programs organized at TISS-Mumbai and IIT-Madras and became a member of the Society of Entrepreneurship Educators, Hyderabad.
Satya yearns to enhance his knowledge and understanding by consistently exploring the uncharted territories of startup ecosystem in India. His core skill set is advisory, management, business proposal writing, program management, relationship management and partnerships, market research and design tools. He is also an avid reader, has keen interest in poetry, and likes long and valuable conversations with other passionate folks in different fields.
Kajal is a fresh graduate with an extreme passion for social innovation and entrepreneurship. She considers BVIC her training ground and wishes to be an entrepreneur in the future. In her short stint in the professional world, she has already started to show her mettle by effectively assisting in BVIC programs such as SocioConnect.
Kajal received her MA in Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship from TISS – Tuljapur and BA in Sociology, Industrial relations, and Personnel Management from Delhi University. It was during her Masters she developed a strong connection with social work and innovation and interned with Delhi Government Delhi on a substance abuse project and, also, with UNICEF for their UReporter initiative. Her passion made her volunteer for various reputed NGOs such a Becoming I Foundation, Umeed, AISEC, and worked as a community manager with a startup called Pee-Buddy. After graduation, she became part of BVIC team.
Kajal’s core professional skill set is innovative entrepreneurial solutions to address social issues, team management, planning, and execution. She is also a travel enthusiast, amateur photographer, calligrapher, and basketball player.
Moses John Paul
Lead – Communications and Multimedia
Moses is an accomplished development communication specialist who has engaged with multiple development organizations and departments on communication strategy, film making, content writing, design, digital marketing and capacity building. With an in-depth understanding of all communication processes supported by a strong technical background, he brings a great combination of head and heart to the communications team.
With a Master’s degree in Communication specializing in Radio and Video Production from the University of Hyderabad and a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from St. Mary’s College, Yousufguda, he is adept at creating powerful content using a diverse set of multimedia tools. He is a highly motivated individual with a proven track record of creating quality content both individually as well as a Team Lead.
He has engaged with Bala Vikasa since 2016 on various assignments and currently heads the Communications and Multimedia unit. Before joining Bala Vikasa, He worked actively with government departments like CMO, PR & RD, MA & UD, IT&EC, SERP, etc., to produce short documentary films as part of his stint as a Director for Brandex Adworks. He began his professional career with Bannu Inc, a US based NGO, producing over 45 short and long form videos to improve its visibility among various stakeholders. His professional experience also includes one year of academic teaching for Graduate and Post Graduate students of Mass Communication and Journalism.
Over the past 6 years, he has worked with different development stakeholders on a diverse set of agendas across multiple media formats and brings this dynamic experience to the table in his efforts to strengthen and support the communications function of Bala Vikasa.
Bhaskar is a skilled video producer with advanced technical expertise, a robust work ethic, and an apt creative quotient. In his short stint with Bala Vikasa, he has shown his mettle by managing video projects from start to finish; he is positioned to make a significant impact through development multimedia production.
He has studies B.Tech at graduation level and did his one year apprentice with ISRO, Trivandrum but his passion for the camera made him choose a different career path. He went on and did Post Graduate Diploma in Community Media from TISS, Mumbai, and a master’s in Communication from the University of Hyderabad.
Before joining Bala Vikasa, Bhaskar worked as a freelance video producer for various organizations such as US Consulate (Hyderabad), Bharat Calling (Madhya Pradesh), etc. He joined Bala Vikasa as a fulltime video producer in 2019.
His expertise includes managing all editing, recording, shooting, photography, screenwriting, and delivery of the final product. With proficiency in a broad range of software applications and equipment — along with the ability to collaborate effectively with team, peers, experts, and colleagues — his talents and abilities are significantly benefiting Bala Vikasa. Apart from this, he also likes to read about various cultures and has a keen interest in street photography.
Associate – Communications
Paul is a dynamic graphics designer skilled in creative 3D modeling. He has experience in anatomy, painting, and architectural works. He has spent over three years in crafting digital content and campaigns for established organizations in Hyderabad, and now, his skills are fulfilling the creative needs of Bala Vikasa.
Paul started his career as Game Artist with Playzio and later with Studio ORB Entertainments. As a Game Artist, he learned the advanced skills in producing PD game characters. Later, he started to work as a Graphic Designer/Video & FX Editor in a creative consultancy called Empower.
He did his graduation in Multimedia from the International Academy of Computer Graphics. During his course he learned poly modeling, sculpting in Zbrush and Mudbox, concept drawing, with new games and updated software.
Paul’s core professional skill set as a digital graphic designer at Bala Vikasa includes the designing of creatives required for digital media marketing, online advertisements creation, social media campaigns, and brand identity design. Apart from this, he has a special interest in music, cricket, and food and loves traveling and photography.
